So far, I have been creating CG animations about the Greenland Rolls. Starting this year, I'll be working on a new content production. It's not CG, it's stop-motion animation. As you know, stop-motion animation takes an enormous amount of time to produce. It requires filming the character's movements frame by frame. One second of animation consists of 24 frames. Even a one-minute animation requires 1,440 shutter releases. With CG, most of the calculations and filming can be left to the PC, but with stop-motion animation, all of these processes are done by hand. I am actually more attracted to this kind of analog work.

However, do I have to keep you waiting until it's finished? If I do that, your interest will fade over time. To prevent that, I need to keep you focused on new content. To that end, I will be writing a production log with Shingo, who is helping with the workshops at my Storm Shelter. We have no secrets, so we will be revealing everything that goes on during production. I'm sure you'll enjoy reading about even the miscellaneous aspects of animation production. Due to my past experiences, most of my friends who could become audiences for my animation are overseas. For this reason, I may distribute my production log using an overseas hosting service rather than this blog. Once everything is ready, I will let you know the details again. Stay tuned!

いつぞやのブログで「カヤックをネタにしたストップモーションアニメを作りたい」ということを書いたかと思います。「いつか」なんて言ってると、本当にいつになるか分からないので、昨年末から地味にちまちまと準備を始めています。参考モデルの作成や絵コンテ、作業場のレイアウト、必要機材の選定等々。年末年始のお休みはそんなことに時間を費やしていました。
ちなみに「いつか」というのは、言葉の響きが持つほど希望的観測感はなく、本気にならないと実は永遠にやってこないタイミングになることも多々あります。なるべく使いたくない言葉の一つかも。「いつか」と言う前に動きたいものです。

さておき…。
ご存じかとは思いますが、ストップモーションアニメの撮影は、ひとコマひとコマ撮っていくわけですから（一秒の尺には24コマ必要）、とても時間がかかります。考えただけで気が遠くなりそうです。でも、そこがいい。「ひとコマひとコマ」…この愚直感、サイコー。
どうして、こうも底なし沼に惹かれるでしょうかね。

時間がかかるということは、曲りなりも「観たい！」という方がいるとすれば(いてくれー！…笑)、完成まで暫くお待たせすることになってしまいます。せっかくご興味を持っていただいたのに、時間の経過と共に疎遠になりそうで、それは作り手側の“我々”としても寂しいものがあります。


というわけで制作ログを立ち上げることにしました。進捗はもちろんですが、機密もヘッタクレもないので持ち札をぜーんぶお見せします。いいのか？
さっき“我々”と上述しましたが、制作にはシェルターのお仲間数名が協力してくれます。もちろん「工場長」も含まれているわけで、ログは彼と共同編集する予定です。ハチャメチャになりそうですよね(笑)。これも沼なのか？

カヤックに絡むこれまでの経緯から考えると、観客候補の友人たちの多くが海外にいます。SEO対策から海外のホスティングサービスを使うことを検討中です。よって、ここ（STORM ONのブログ）とは別棟になりますね。諸々、整ったら改めてお知らせしますので、よろしくお願いします。
